Tilt was founded in 2021 with the objective to counter online disinformation and manipulation through games and AI-powered services and thereby increase digital and media literacy for everyone. All of Tilt’s solutions are based on the latest science and have been proven to be effective. What is more, the organisation actively contributes to scientific research, collaborating with universities, NGOs and governments to increase the impact of their solutions. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all solution, Tilt explores each of their projects from a new perspective in order to create tailor-made products and services.

One pillar of Tilt’s work are their games, many of which are publicly available in up to 20 languages. One such game is Harmony Square which, over the course of 10 minutes, teaches players about political disinformation, deception and manipulation by putting them in the role of the perpetrator. Being put in the shoes of the bad guy, allows people to learn how to recognise common manipulation techniques and disinformation narratives in real life, ultimately increasing their resilience against such tactics. The concept and content of the game was developed by an international group of psychologists, sociologists, journalists, cyber security experts, game designers and hackers.

Other publicly available games include Bad News, Go Viral and Cat Park, each of which focuses on different manipulation techniques and topics. Tilt offers educational packages for Bad News and Cat Park which are available upon request.

Scientific articles have been written on several of the prebunking games.

Bad News has over 1 million players every year.

The games have been translated into 20 languages.

International organisations and governments use Tilt’s games to train their staff and increase resilience and media literacy.
